A 20-year-old youth from Rajasthan was arrested for stealing more than 60 sovereigns of gold jewellery from a showroom in Saidapet.

According to the police, the accused, Rohit, was arrested based on a complaint by Sundar, who ran a jewellery shop on Bazaar Road. Rohit, who worked at the shop, had fled with the stolen gold bracelets on Friday night. When he did not return on Saturday, they checked the CCTV footage and found him stealing the jewellery while shifting it to the locker.

Subsequently, the police launched a search and arrested him.
