A 26-year-old police constable was injured after a snapped maanja thread entangled her neck while riding a two-wheeler on a flyover in Aminjikarai on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Ramya, attached to the Aminjikarai police station. She was heading to work when the incident occurred. She lost balance and fell on the road, following which she was admitted to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

In November last year, a total of 13 people were arrested for allegedly flying kites using maanja and sellers who sold the thread, after two people, including a two-year-old child, were injured.
