The body of a woman Congress worker was found stuffed inside a suitcase at a bus stand in Rohtak’s Sampla on Saturday. Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has sought high-level probe into the matter saying that the manner in which the body was dumped was “shocking”.

The woman, later identified as Himani Narwal, was staying on rent at Shivaji Colony, while her mother and brother live in Delhi’s Najafgarh.

Sampla SHO Inspector Bijender told The Hindu over phone that the body was found after a passer-by made a call to the PCR around noon. “The body had heena on her hands. There were no visible injury marks. The cause of death will be ascertained after the post-mortem tomorrow. But prima facie, it appeared that she was strangled to death. The body was not decomposed, and the murder seems to have been committed within the past 24 hours,” said Mr. Bijender.

Mr. Hooda said the incident was a blot on the law and order situation in the State and demanded exemplary action by the government and the entire law and order system to prevent repetition of such incidents.

Ms. Narwal was also a social media content creator and had a large number of followers on various platforms.
