The ninth edition of Vibrance 2025, the international cultural and sports festival organised by Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Chennai, got off to a colourful start on Wednesday.

During the event, cricketer Rahul Chahar interacted with the students and exhorted them to be bold and fearless. Mr. Chahar, who is the third youngest IPL player, said that he started playing cricket after watching his brother. He said that he would listen to music, especially Punjabi songs, before the matches. Sunrisers Hyderabad is his favourite IPL team at present, followed by Chennai Super Kings, he says. He presented bats and balls, with his autograph, to the students.

G.V. Selvam, vice-president, VIT, said that the VIT Group of Institutions aimed at the all-round development of students, ensuring that they were happy and, at the same time, made others happy. According to him, Vibrance, was “by, for, and of the students”.

The inaugural event saw a performance by playback singer Armaan Malik, featuring songs from Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil films. 

Road-safety campaign

Earlier in the day, a five-km mini-marathon on ‘Run For Road Safety’ was organised to create awareness among the public. Mr. Selvam flagged off the event that saw the participation of students and staff members of VIT Chennai.

Vibrance 2025 features more than 200 cultural events, including Dancepacito, Stylathon, and Battle of Bands, and over 25 sports competitions such as cricket, basketball, kabaddi, and football.
