The city police on Tuesday (April 22, 2025) arrested two drug offenders from Assam and seized 25 grams of heroin.

While a sub-inspector attached with St Thomas Mount Police station was on duty, he received a message from an informer. Following the information, police reached the spot mentioned near the Post Office on GST road and caught them with the contraband.

The case was investigated by Inspector V.Balan further and the duo who have been identified as Mubarak Ali, 28 and Manjul Islam,28, were arrested and remanded.

Meanwhile, Following inputs from the Anti-Narcoti Intelligence Unit, Arumbakkam Police arrested three men near Vijay Park who allegedly possessed methamphetamine to sell.

Police said the arrested men have been identified as Reventh Manikandan, 29 of Kilpauk, a private firm employee, Deepan Chakravarthy, 31 of Aminjikarai, a software engineer and Bharath, 27 of Nammalwarpet, a sound engineer. Police seized eight grams of methamphetamine, five ecstasy pills, and other items from them.

New Washermenpet Police arrested one Yogesh, 23 of Royapuram and seized 2,200 painkiller tablets, 1.05 kilos of ganja, 27 liquor bottles and syringes that were in his possession. Egmore Police arrested three men and seized 590 tablets from them.
