The Halasuru Gate police arrested two goldsmiths from Rajasthan for stealing 2.5 kilograms of gold valuables from the shop they were working at in January this year.
According to the police, the accused allegedly escaped to Delhi with the loot. Based on the complaint of the store owner, the police tracked down Mahabeer Gujrar, 25, and his associate Manish Prajapati, 20 and efforts are on to track down the third accused who is on the run.
H. T. Shekhar, DCP, central division, said that the accused were working in the hallmark centre that authenticated and certified gold valuables. The accused escaped with a total of 2.5 kilograms of gold jewels which had come to the centre from different shops to be authenticated.
The accused worked as goldsmiths in different cities before working in Bengaluru and efforts are on to ascertain their criminal background, the police officials said.
