The Arakandanallur police of Villupuram district arrested two persons allegedly involved in a burglary case and recovered 26 sovereigns of gold jewellery from them on Saturday (May 10, 2025).

Following the incident of house break-in reported at T. Devanur near Villupuram on May 6, Superintendent of Police P. Saravanan constituted a special police team to investigate the crime,

During a vehicle check at Vadakaraithazhanur on the Villupuram-Tirukkoyilur Road on Saturday, the team intercepted two persons riding a motorcycle and found them to be M. Manikandan, 44 of Vellore and R. Kishore, 22 of Tiruvannamalai district who were wanted in connection with the burglary.

The police arrested the duo and recovered 26 sovereigns of gold jewellery and a two-wheeler from their possession. They were produced before a local court and remanded in custody.
