Two Thiruvanathapuram-bound flights were diverted to Madurai airport on Sunday night due to technical fault in the runway lighting at Thiruvananthapuram airport.

According to airport sources, the flights had come from Bengaluru and Mumbai.

After landing at Madurai Airport, the flights took off to Thiruvananthapuram after a brief halt as the lighting issue was redressed.

West Bengal Governor C. V. Ananda Bose was on the flight that came from Bengaluru, according to police source.
