A Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital doctor who was caught in the controversy of giving false medical report about an accident victim has been removed from service.

When Bala Sundararajan of Murappanadu in Thoothukudi district was coming to Tirunelveli on his bike on August 26, 2024, a speeding car hit his two-wheeler from behind, in which he was seriously injured. After being under treatment in Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for a few days, he was shifted to a private hospital in Madurai for treatment.

Even though Mr. Bala Sundararajan is a teetotaller, doctor Babu Shankar of TVMCH reportedly certified that the victim was under the influence of alcohol when the accident happened. Hence, Mr. Bala Sundararajan submitted a petition with the Chief Minister’s Special Cell seeking action against Dr. Babu Shankar.

On getting the communication from Chennai, District Collector R. Sukumar sought clarification from Dean, TVMCH, Revathi Balan, who has replied that Shankar Babu was removed from service on July 14 last.
