The Avadi Traffic Investigation police arrested a 30-year-old truck driver who dashed the vehicle into one of the booths of the toll plaza in Palavedu on Tuesday night. However as the toll plaza had thin traffic, no one was injured in the incident. 

A senior official of the Avadi Police Commissionerate said the Palavedu toll plaza on the Vandalur-Minjur Outer Ring Road is located near Avadi. On Tuesday night as the toll plaza was functioning, a speeding truck driven by Venkatesan rammed into a booth of the toll plaza, completely damaging it.

Immediately the staff alerted the Avadi Police who inspected the accident scene and arrested the driver. The Traffic Police arrested Venkatesan for drunken driving and causing the accident. On investigation the driver said he was transporting goods from Ennore to Puducherry and was returning to the factory in Ennore.

The officials of the NHAI are engaged in repairing the toll plaza on Wednesday, the police official added.
