State treasuries handled financial transactions worth ₹24,000 crore in 2024-25, Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal said on Saturday.

The Minister was speaking to the media after visiting the District Treasury, Thiruvananthapuram, on Saturday, which was the last working day of the financial year.

The amount is likely to touch ₹26,000 crore when the details of the final day’s transactions are in. Since March 29 was the last working day (March 30 being Sunday, and March 31, a holiday on account of Id-ul-fitr), the government had set March 26 as the final day for departments to submit their bills, he said.

The Finance department and the Treasuries department had made arrangements in advance to handle the bills. On March 28 alone, 26,000 bills were processed, he said.
