Trainee doctors from the Rajiv Gandhi Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital (RGAMCH) in Mahe launched an indefinite protest in front of the Directorate of Ayush here to press for implementing the assurance on raising their stipend.

The protestors under the banner of the RGAMCH Students and Parents has appealed to the Lt. Governor and Chief Minister to pass orders on hiking the stipend from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000 that would provide them the promised parity with other medical college interns.

The protestors complained that no GO had been passed and Budgetary allocation provided to implement the assurance of the Chief Minister in 2022. It has been 650 days since the related file was set in motion, they said.
