The Tamil Nadu government will set up a new city with international standards near Chennai, Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu said on Friday.
He also announced construction of a new bridge for three kilometres between Guindy and Guru Nanak College junction in Velachery at a cost of ₹310 crore which would benefit seven lakh people.
Presenting the budget for 2025, he said the government would set up 10 Thozhi Hostels for working women at a cost of ₹77 crore. It will benefit 800 working women.
“There will be Anbusolai, old age homes in 25 places at a cost of ₹25 crore and girls hostels in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai at a cost of ₹275 crore. It will benefit 1000 students,” he said.
