Vijayapura Police have arrested three people and seized five country-made pistols from them.

Naeem Siraj Shamannavara of Haveli Galli in Vijayapura, 25-year-old Nihal alias Nehal Mahibubasaba Tamboli, a resident of Bhavani Nagar, Vijayapura, and 29-year-old Siddu alias Sidhya Gurupada Mudalagi alias Mudangi of Yogapur Colony are the accused.

As many as five country-made pistols and six bullets were seized from them.

Acting on a tip-off, police teams raided their houses and seized the illegal arms, Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi told reporters in Vijayapura on Friday.

Mr. Nimbargi said that the drive to trace illegal arms continues in the district.

Teams led by Additional Superintendents of Police Shankar Marihal and Ramanagouda Hatti, Deputy Superintendent of Police Basavaraj Yeligar, Circle Inspector Mallayya Mathpati, Sub-Inspector Jyoti Khot and others were involved in the operation.

The Superintendent of Police has congratulated the police teams.
