The 10th World Congress of Women’s Mental Health, held by the International Association for Women’s Mental Health (IAWMH) and co-hosted by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) and the Psychotherapy Advanced Resource Centre (PARC), is being held in Bengaluru from March 5 and 8.

According to the release, the conference, themed Inclusion and Integration Across the Lifespan, will bring together over 800 delegates worldwide to shape the future of research, practice, public health initiatives and policy in women’s mental health and the role of lived experiences in moulding them. Some of the speakers for the same include SNEHA’s founder, Dr. Lakshmi Vijayakumar; oral historian and writer Aanchal Malhotra; the “living legend” of psychiatry Prof. Norman Sartorius; and neuroscientist, therapist, and author Dr. Jodi Pawluski, among many others.

Over 90 talks and discussions on women’s mental health topics are expected to be held in the city, with the event being open to mental health and other healthcare professionals, policymakers, non-profits and anyone working in the area of women’s mental health, adds the release. In addition, a Conference Fringe, featuring book discussions and talks by key speakers in various venues in Bengaluru, will be open to the general public. “This year, we celebrate 30 years of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which focused on women’s rights and empowerment, which are key to women’s mental health,” stated Dr. Prabha S. Chandra, Dean of Behavioural Sciences at NIMHANS and President IAWMH.
