A tenth class student, Kalapala Joel (15) died and two others suffered injuries after a lorry hit them on Vijayawada-Machilipatnam National Highway in Pamarru mandal in Krishna district on Tuesday (July 8, 2025).

The mishap occurred when the lorry driver was reversing and hit the bike. The victim, Joel and his brother, K. Abhi Naik, were going to school.

Pamarru Circle Inspector, V. Subhakar said the lorry driver was reversing without guidance from the cleaner.

Another person, who was on the bike suffered minor injuries. The students were coming from Balliparru village to Pamarru when the accident occurred, Mr. Subhakar said.

The lorry has been seized and the driver was taken into custody. A case has been registered and investigation is on, the CI said.
