Telangana begins rice export to South East Asia from Kakinada Anchorage Port

Telangana Minister for Water Resources and Civil Supplies N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday flagged off the first consignment of 12,000 metric tonnes of rice being exported to the Philippines from Kakinada Anchorage Port.

The Telangana government has signed an agreement with the Philippines to export one lakh tonnes of rice grown in Telangana as part of the Government to Government deal. The Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation will procure the paddy and export the rice in the State.

A delegation of the Philippines was also present during the flagging off ceremony. “Today marks the historic entry of Telangana into the global rice market,” said Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy.
