The Additional Commissioner of Labour on Wednesday convened talks between Samsung India management and representatives of Samsung India Workers Union (SIWU), backed by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU). The talks, however, remained inconclusive. A section of employees at the Samsung factory in Sriperumbudur has been on strike for more than a week over various demands, including reinstating three workers who were suspended by the management recently. A CITU representative said the reinstatement demand was reiterated during the talks, but the company refused to do so. “Therefore, our protest will continue…,” the representative added. The next round of talks will be held on February 14.
