The Fast Track Court on Monday convicted a swimming coach for molesting a nine-year-old student in the changing room where she had come for swimming lessons at the pool at Betta Halasuru in 2023.

The victim was changing her clothes when the accused, identified as Manasa, barged into the changing room and molested her and threatened her against talking about it.

The victim however, narrated the ordeal with her parents, following which they filed a complaint with the police. The Chikkajala police arrested Manasa under POCSO Act, 2012, and filed a charge sheet along with 11 witness. The court convicted Manasa and sentenced him to five years of imprisonment and a fine of ₹50,000.

Second case

In anther case, the court had convicted a man named Rudresha for raping a minor girl who had come to visit her grandmother in Maranayakanahalli in 2021. The victim, along with her mother, had gone to the grandmother‘s house, when Rudresh lured her with chocolate, took her to an isolated place and raped her.

The victim returned home and told her mother about the incident, following which the mother rushed her to the hospital before filing a complaint. The police tracked down the accused and arrested him and filed a chargesheet. The court convicted the accused and sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment and a fine of ₹1 lakh.

Third case

In another case, the court convicted Gorla Lova Raju in a POCSO case and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1.5 lakh on him for raping a 17-year-old minor girl and abducting her 15-year-old brother in May 2023. The accused had befriended the victim when she had gone to recharge her mobile. The accused had proposed to marry her before sexually assaulting her. He later took her to many places in Andhra Pradesh. The parents filed a missing complaint based on which the police tracked down the victims and rescued them before arresting Gorla Lova Raju.
