The 21st Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival will take place from January 9 to 12, 2025, in the streets around the Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple in Chennai to celebrate Mylapore’s cultural heritage with performances, art, food stalls, traditional games etc. Entry is free. The t-shirt, cap and bag designs were launched on Monday.
Rajiv Lochan, Managing Director of Sundaram Finance, said the festival brings the community together. “Next year, we are planning to bring more [artistes] from districts,” he added. Cloth bags made by a Tiruppur unit employing women, will be distributed in exchange for plastic bags from the public.
The ‘Spirit of Mylapore Award’ for cultural contributions will be announced on January 12 at 5:45 p.m., where the recipient will receive a citation and a cheque. Several other events will be held until Jany 11. Details are available at https://mylaporefestival.in/2025/
Vincent D’Souza, organiser, said while early registrations were best, last-minute entrants could also be accommodated.
