Personal freedom within families is essential for resolving conflicts and ensuring individual well-being, observed Women’s Commission member P. Kunhaysha at an adalat held at the Kannur district panchayat hall on Friday (January 24).

The Commission noted that families often approached issues emotionally, which exacerbated conflicts. In addition, communication through new media platforms was identified as a growing concern in family relationships.

Holding that the new media facilitated extra-marital relationships and exploitation, the panel urged vigilance to mitigate such risks.

Out of the 70 complaints reviewed at the adalat, 15 were resolved. Six complaints were forwarded to the police for further action, three to the Vigilance committee and three to the District Legal Aid Authority for assistance. Forty-three complaints will be taken up at the next session.
