State Police Chief Shaik Darvesh Saheb has directed all district police chiefs to implement stringent measures to maintain law and order across the State during the New Year’s festivities.

To safeguard public spaces, police patrolling and surveillance will be significantly intensified in key locations including shopping centres, malls, main streets, railway stations, bus stands and airports. Special teams have been instructed to increase checks at major hubs where New Year celebrations are anticipated.

Moreover, drone surveillance will be deployed at major tourist destinations and crowded areas, providing real-time monitoring of gatherings and allowing for swift action if necessary. The move aims to bolster security and keep a close watch on high-traffic locations throughout the night.

A major focus of the security arrangements will be the strict enforcement of traffic rules, with heightened vigilance against common violations such as drunk driving, speeding, reckless driving, and illegal stunts. In light of past incidents, the police will deploy border sealing and thorough vehicle checks to prevent such violations.

Focus will be placed on preventing underage driving, and police will be patrolling high-risk areas to ensure that no one endangers their safety or the safety of others on the roads. The popular tourist destinations will also come under a tight security blanket.

In a bid to prevent accidents at sea, the Coastal Police and Coast Guard will intensify patrols, especially near popular beaches and coastal areas. The public have been urged to exercise caution and ensure they are following safety protocols before venturing into the sea.

The organisers of New Year’s events and parties have been instructed to maintain an entry register for all guests, ensuring proper documentation and accountability. Furthermore, the police have issued clear instructions to strictly adhere to the noise pollution regulations, as directed by the High Court, to prevent disturbances to the general public.

In case of any untoward incidents, the public has been urged to immediately inform the police through the emergency helpline number 112.
