Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated through video conference from Chennai the new building of the Government Arts and Science College at Tharagampatti in Karur district on Friday. The new building has been constructed at a cost of ₹12.46 crore with a host of facilities, including classrooms, library, separate rooms for men and women teachers, computer room, laboratory, meeting hall, principal’s chamber, and rooms for different department heads. The college has a student strength of nearly 700.
A function was organised at the new college building in connection with its inauguration in which Karur Collector M. Thangavel, Krishnarayapuram MLA K. Sivagamasundari, Regional Joint Director of Higher Education Pon. Muthuramalingam and college Principal Balasubramanian participated, an official release said.
Indoor stadium
Mr. Stalin also declared open an indoor stadium constructed at the Government Engineering College in Sethurapatti near Tiruchi. The new indoor stadium with various facilities has been constructed at a cost of ₹8.56 crore.
A function was organised in connection with the inauguration of the indoor stadium in which Tiruchi Collector M. Pradeep Kumar, college Principal R. Malayamurthy and students participated, another release added.
