The Tamil Nadu State Board Class X examination commenced on Friday with language paper.
As many as 34,365 candidates (17,545 boys and 16,820 girls) had enrolled for the examination in Tiruchi district. Of these 33,682 turned up and 683 candidates remained absent, according to official sources. District Collector M. Pradeep Kumar visited the examination centre at R.C. Higher Secondary School.
In Perambalur district, 8,047 candidates (4,272 boys and 3,275 girls) had enrolled for the examinations in 141 centres. About 136 candidates (92 boys and 44 girls) remained absent. Fifty-two flying squads were deployed to monitor the process.
As many as 22,343 candidates, including 168 private candidates, had enrolled for the examinations in Pudukottai district. About 21,789 candidates, including 156 private candidates, attended the examination, with 554 candidates remaining absent. A total of 260 flying squads were deployed to monitor the conduct of the examinations.
