South Western Railway is conducting a Special Campaign 5.0 on “Institutionalising Swachhata and Minimizing Pendency in Government Offices”.

This is as per the directions of the Railway Board and the Cabinet Secretariat. The campaign, which commenced on October 2, will continue till October 31.

The campaign focuses on achieving saturation of Swachhata (cleanliness) in all government offices, including field units and service delivery locations.

A special thrust this year is on the scientific disposal of e-waste such as unserviceable computers and printers, along with systematic disposal of scrap and redundant material to also maximize revenue.

Cleanliness drives are being organized at stations, offices and other public interface sites.

Another key objective is the reduction of pendency by expediting disposal of references from MPs, State governments, Inter-Ministerial consultations, PMO matters and Parliamentary Assurances pending for over three months.

Efforts are also being made to resolve public grievances and appeals received through CPGRAMS and other channels while simplifying rules and processes to improve efficiency.

The campaign also emphasizes record and space management, including reviewing and weeding of files, closure of e-files and office beautification in line with CSMOP, GFR and the Public Records Act 1993.

South Western Railway has directed all field units to accord top priority to this initiative which is being closely monitored at the PMO level, with nodal officers reporting progress on the DARPG monitoring portal, said a release from Chief Public Relations Officer Manjunath Kanamadi.
