Shahdara murder case: deceased woman’s husband arrested

Two days after a woman’s body was found in a bed box in Delhi’s Shahdara, the Delhi Police arrested the husband of the deceased in the wee hours of Sunday, a senior official said.

According to DCP (Shahdara) Prashant Priya Gautam, the co-accused Ashish Kumar (45), the deceased’s husband was arrested from Bihar.

Kumar at present is in police remand, the officer added.

According to the police, the three accused – Vivekanand Mishra (64), Abhay Kumar Jha alias Sonu (29) and Kumar killed Anju after she found the three of them in a compromising position. While Anju had left for Ludhiana, the accused Ashish brought her back from her parents’ house and then along with the two others stuffed her body inside a bed box at Mishra’s flat and fled to Jaipur where they stayed at the house of Jha’s cousin, the police said.

Following this Mishra and Jha were arrested however Kumar was at large. The police at present are interrogating Kumar for more details.
