Several students fell ill at the BC Welfare Boys’ Hostel in Annaparru village, Pedanandipadu mandal, Guntur district, on Friday in a suspected case of food poisoning. District In-charge Minister Kandula Durgesh termed the incident “unfortunate” and directed officials to ensure the affected students received prompt medical care.

Mr. Durgesh instructed Guntur District Collector A. Thameem Ansariya to personally oversee the treatment and take steps to prevent recurrence. He also wished the students a speedy recovery.

Ms. Ansariya, along with district medical and social welfare officials, rushed to the hostel immediately after being informed. Authorities arranged full medical care locally and ordered tests of drinking water and food supplies. She also directed a thorough inspection of sanitation and kitchen hygiene.

Meanwhile, BC Welfare Minister S. Savitha, Prathipadu MLA Burla Ramanjaneyulu, and BC Welfare Department Secretary S. Satyanarayana visited Guntur Government Hospital to console the affected students and review their condition. Authorities assured that measures are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
