A session on Cybersecurity Awareness was held St. Joseph’s School in Belagavi on Friday.

Cyber safety expert Swapneel Patnekar spoke to students about various aspects of the issue and listed several points on how to remain safe and secure online. He also spoke of online vigilance and best practices for cybersecurity.

Mr. Patnekar offered real-life examples and spoke of the modus operandi of cyber criminals use and how one must remain cautious. He also held a question answer session where he cleared doubts.

Discussions on topics like creating strong, unique passwords for different websites, privacy, and data security were held. He urged students to spread awareness about all such issues among the elders in their homes. Teachers also participated.

Mr. Patnekar, who is the Chief Security Researcher and CEO of Shreshta IT Technologies, Belagavi-based cybersecurity and threat intelligence company, spoke about his life story and experience in information security, and how his company had saved several companies by alerting them in time. He also spoke of the workshops he had conducted for police and other security and vigilance agencies. eom
