The one-man committee headed by retired IAS officer Rajiv Ranjan Mishra submitted its report on the sub-classification of Scheduled Castes (SC) to K. Vijayanand, Chief Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Government, at the Secretariat on Tuesday (March 11, 2025). The committee was appointed to study and recommend measures for ensuring the equitable distribution of reservation benefits among various SC sub-groups in the State.

The Andhra Pradesh Government had constituted the committee under the Commission of Inquiry Act, 1952, through G.O.Ms.No.86 issued by the Social Welfare (CV) Department on November 15, 2024. Rajiv Ranjan Mishra assumed charge on November 27, 2024, and issued a public notification as per Rule 4(1)(b) of the Andhra Pradesh Commission of Inquiry Rules, 1968.

To conduct a thorough assessment, the committee toured all 13 erstwhile districts of Andhra Pradesh and engaged in consultations with stakeholders, including community representatives and experts. Based on its findings, the committee formulated specific recommendations aimed at improving the reservation policy framework for Scheduled Castes.

The government is expected to review the report and consider necessary policy measures to implement the recommendations effectively.
