Notorious rowdy-sheeter Manjunath alias Nepali Manja was murdered late on Sunday near Gollahalli Main Road in the Hebbagodi police station limits. Manja, who had a history of over 15 criminal cases, was attending a gathering with friends in a secluded area when the attack occurred, said the police.
According to police, assailants led by Jagga arrived on two motorcycles and launched a sudden assault on Manja with weapons. The attackers inflicted multiple stab wounds before fleeing from the scene. The Hebbogodi police suspect that the murder was motivated by long-standing rivalries and Jagga is also a local goon.
Manja was also booked under Goonda Act in two cases owing to his alleged involvement in various criminal activities in the Anekal region. Despite police warnings during a recent rowdy parade, he allegedly continued his illicit activities. Recently, Manja had relocated with his family to Kunigal to distance himself from criminal associations. However, he returned to Anekal for the festival season and to socialise with friends, when the fatal encounter occurred.
The Hebbagodi police have registered a case and are searching for the accused.
