The Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) has proposed to set up a Waste-to-Energy (WTE) biogas plant at the Kapavaram and Balabadrapuram sites in the Anaparthi Assembly constituency of East Godavari district. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has been encouraging WTE plants under the WTE Programme.
On Saturday, March 8, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana inspected the two proposed sites and inquired about their viability. In an official release, Mr. Narayana stated that the solid waste generated in the RMC limits and the nearby urban bodies in the Godavari region would be processed to generate energy through the WTE plant.
