The police on Tuesday registered an FIR against five women, including a patient at Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini, for assaulting a resident doctor from the gynaecology department, a senior officer said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajeev Ranjan said, “Around 2 p.m. on Monday, the doctor was returning from the outpatient department when she was intercepted by the patient and her attendants, and assaulted.”
The officer added that one of the five suspects, Sonia, had told the police that she and her attendants were enraged after her newborn had died earlier that morning. Sonia and others held the doctor responsible for the death. . The police have bound down the five.
The doctor has been admitted to the hospital and receiving treatment. Meanwhile, the hospital’s resident doctors’ association alleged that there were “no guards or security personnel near the gynaecology department” to protect the doctor. There was no response from the hospital regarding the allegations.
