The proposal to establish a Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) at Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) is set to take off soon, with the visit of an official team from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to the campus being an indication of the same.

The team of officials reached the campus on Wednesday and conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ground meant for practice and the classroom facilities, along with the drone simulator software.

DGCA Drone Directorate’s Deputy Director (Operations) Kunj Lata, Assistant Director (Airworthiness) Chetal Singh, along with industry partner PBC AeroSpace Private Limited’s chief executive officer Pranav Chitte and director Anjali Chitte reached SVU campus to verify the training organisation’s compliance with the established norms and maintenance of high safety standards.

SVU in-charge Vice-Chancellor C. Appa Rao announced the establishment of technology learning centres of excellence and training facilities for space technology, drone technology, quantum computing, virtual production and semi-conductors.

According to SVU’s chief executive officer (RUSA Projects) Rayala Vamsi Krishna, the visit was meant to be an inspection of the training infrastructure, the curriculum and training modules, drones and equipment, qualifications of the instructors, besides the documentation and records of the training organisation.
