A case of kidnap of a 48-year-old realtor has come to light in Belagavi after the kidnappers threatened to kill him if ransom is not paid.

According to police sources, Basavaraj Neelappa Ambi, a real estate businessman from Rajapur village in Mudalagi taluk of Belagavi district, was kidnapped on the night of February 14.

Subsequently, his wife received a call for ₹5 crore ransom and the kidnappers threatened her that they will kill Basavaraj Ambi if the ransom money is not paid.

Basavaraj Ambi’s wife has filed a complaint with the Ghataprabha Police Station. Registering the complaint, the police have begun investigation and are trying to trace the kidnappers.
