Kadidal Prakash, who worked as secretary of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Prathishthana at Kuppali in Tirthahalli taluk for 27 years, has submitted his resignation.

He has appealed to the trust president B.L. Shankar to relieve him from the responsibility and stated that he would continue to handle the responsibilities until alternative arrangements are made.

Mr. Prakash, on Saturday, told The Hindu that he submitted his resignation. “I have worked with honesty and dedication for the last 27 years. Now, let some youngster take the responsibility and take forward the trust,” he said.

Further, he said that he was from an agricultural family, and it was difficult for him to continue in a post after listening to baseless and untrue allegations. “For politicians, it is easy to digest allegations. But for me, it is not so. I do not want to go into the details of this. However, I have told the chairman that I will continue to handle the responsibilities until an alternative arrangement is made. I have requested an alternative arrangement at the earliest”, said Mr. Prakash.

Recently, the trust came under criticism after a grand wedding was held on its premises, following the rituals of Mantra Mangalya, a wedding ceremony designed and propagated by Kuvempu. It was a marriage of the family related to Mr. Prakash.

Mr. Prakash said that the arrangements made for the wedding were not in tune with the principle of Mantra Mangalya and stated that the trust would not allow such events in the future. Meanwhile, the event caught the attention of many, who criticised office-bearers of the trust.

Following his resignation, many writers and intellectuals of Shivamogga and Tirthahalli have posted on social media platforms highlighting Prakash’s contributions to building the trust and also appealed to him to withdraw his resignation.

The trust was established in 1992 to promote the ideas of poet Kuvempu, a Jnanpith awardee, who gave the Message of Vishwamanava. He is a native of Kuppali.
