Rajan Eye Care hosts comprehensive cataract conference in Chennai

Rajan Eye Care, in association with Madras City Ophthalmic Association, hosted the Chennai Chapter of the International Society of Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgeons (ISMSICS), bringing a comprehensive cataract conference to the city.

“This conference is about the Small Incision Cataract surgery (SICS), which is popular in India. The aim is to look closely into its practice,” said Mohan Rajan, Chairman and Medical Director, Rajan Eye Care Hospital.

At the conference, Ophthalmologist and executive medical director of Rajan Eye Care Hospital, Sujatha Mohan, urged postgraduates to learn and stay proficient in SICS, highlighting the basis of cataract surgery.

“The intention of ISMSICS is to spread knowledge of comprehensive cataract surgery, while the second goal is to train the young ophthalmologists and increase their surgical skills,” Neeta Dodwad, conference coordinator of ISMSICS, said.

M.S. Ravindra, the chief guest and medical director of Karthik Nethralaya and Dr. Neeta Dodwad, guest of honour, presented the ‘distinguished service awards’ to the esteemed professors of ophthalmology. The event was attended by around 300 postgraduates, professors and practising ophthalmologists.
