The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday appointed Laxmi Nagar MLA Abhay Verma its chief whip in the Assembly. The decision was announced following BJP’s legislature party meeting in the Assembly complex, which was attended by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and party’s Delhi unit chief Virendra Sachdeva.

Speaking to mediapersons, Mr. Sachdeva termed the two-time Laxmi Nagar legislator “a well-known Purvanchali face in Delhi”.

“He is expected to fulfil his duties as the chief whip given his experience as an MLA and his knowledge of law,” he added.

Mr. Verma has served as the chief of Delhi BJP’s Purvanchal Morcha and has served the party’s city unit as vice president for four terms.
