Policeman helps rescue kidnapped advocate

An alert Armed Reserve police constable Vignesh helped rescue a man who was kidnapped near Gandhi Museum here on Thursday and arrest the accused from Sivaganga district within a few hours.

The police constable, who was riding a bike on Gandhi Museum Road happened to notice a few persons forcefully bundling a man into a blue car, a statement said.

Before he could reach the spot, the car left hurriedly followed by a motorbike. The policeman had taken video of the car that had no registration number plate.

Though he followed the car up to Dr. Thangaraj Salai, the car and the bike disappeared.

The constable then alerted the Tallakulam police who alerted the entire city police.

The police got the registration number of the two wheeler through CCTV video footage and tracked the owner Gautham.

By following the CCTV video footages one after the other, the police reached Gautham at Tirupachethi in Sivaganga district, the statement said.

Later, the police picked up Rajkumar, 31, of Parthibanur, Marimuthu, 23, and Srikanth, 19, of Madurai.

The kidnapped person was identified as Senthilvel, 32, of Kamudhi in Ramanathapuram district. His driver Lakshmanan was also kidnapped along with him. Both of them were rescued.

The enquiry revealed that Senthilvel, an advocate, was kidnapped by his cousin Rajkumar after the advocate failed to repay ₹5 lakh loan.
