Closing a public interest litigation petition that sought a direction to the authorities to extend Madurai Metro Rail project to Melur, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, on Tuesday, observed that the request of the petitioner was a policy decision to be taken by the government.
A Division Bench of Justices M.S. Ramesh and A.D. Maria Clete observed that it was open to the government to consider the representation.
The court was hearing the petition filed by advocate B. Stalin of Melur. He said that the authorities had failed to consider the importance of Othakadai – Melur region.
