The Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E), in association with the Legal Metrology and Civil Supplies Department officials conducted raids on petrol bunks across the State, and booked cases against the owners of some bunks on various irregularities.

On receiving complaints over tampering, short delivery of fuel and other allegations, about 36 teams, comprising of V&E, Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology, inspected 73 petrol bunks in the State on Monday. The officers booked six cases under Legal Metrology (LM) Act, 2009, and four cases under Section 6 (a) of Essential Commodities (EC) Act, 1955, in different places, said Director-General (V&E) Harish Kumar Gupta in a statement.

The inspection authorities, led by Regional Vigilance and Enforcement Officers (RVEOs), seized 14,503 litres of petrol, 14,585 litres of diesel, 561 litres of 2T oil, all worth about ₹34 lakh during the raids.

Cases have been registered in Anantapur, Rajamahendravaram, Kurnool, Nellore and other districts, Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta said. Raids will continue to prevent tampering and other irregularities in the petrol bunks, the DG warned.
