Days after seats in private schools were allotted for the students under Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood urged parents to report to him if they find irregularities in the process and demand of money in exchange of securing admission in private schools under the quota. Of the 2 lakh applications the department received for the EWS quota, a total of 44,044 names were drawn in the computerised lottery for nursery, kindergarten and Class 1 admissions, he said.

The Delhi government strives to “ensure every underprivileged and deserving child is not denied the right to education”.

From March 6 to March 10, parents of 7,042 children visited the designated centres for document verification and 6,192 students have been successfully verified.

Meanwhile, 4,878 children have been issued admission tokens for private schools in Delhi and 1,291 parents have received notices for incomplete documentation.
