Minister for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Livelihood and Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil on Friday said the government had set a goal of turning the State into a hub for skill development.
At the inauguration of the GTTC industry-academia conclave held here, the Minister said the State had signed several agreements to enhance skill power. A skill academy would be established at Sandur at a cost of ₹300 crore to meet the growing demand for skilled workers in the industrial and business sectors, he said.
He said the conclave, aimed at providing skill training to rural women and students, was a platform to promote collaboration, partnerships, innovation, and skill development to meet the demands of the job market.
Additionally, GTTC multiskill development centres would be set up in Kalaburagi (in collaboration with Gulbarga University), Talakal in Koppal, and Varuna in Mysuru in partnership with Visvesvaraya Technological University, he said.
“Skill locally, work globally is the government’s core mantra. The State is preparing to establish multiple GTTC centres across the State to provide skill-based training to youth in all regions,” he said.
