One girl died on the spot while three other passengers were severely injured after a private bus, carrying 29 passengers, overturned on a National Highway at Kantheru in East Godavari district. The incident occurred while the bus was heading from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad at around 1 a.m.

The bus service is identified as V. Kaveri travels.

East Godavari Superintendent of Police D. Narasimha Kishore told The Hindu; “One girl, identified as Homini (21) died on the spot. As many as 28 passengers have survived with injuries in the accident. Two women and a man are battling for life and their health condition is critical”. The exact technical reason for the accident is yet to be asertained. 

The deceased is native of Visakhapatnam. The injured passengers are being treated in Government General Hospital in Rajamahendravaram City. The police rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers who were trapped inside the bus during early hours of Thursday.

The police registered a case and the investigation is on.
