Urban Development Minister B. S. Suresh informed the Legislative Assembly that no major work has been taken up for developing an integrated township in KGF city in Karnataka.

In a reply to Roopakala M. (Congress) during Question Hour, Mr. Suresh said the government has announced integrated townships in the State Budget for 2024-25. The integrated township on nearly 1,000 acres of Bharat Gold Mines Limited (BGML) would be developed after receiving a feasibility report from a consulting agency.

Out of 1,000 acres, industries would be developed on 700 acres and an integrated township, including housing and other facilities, would be created on 300 acres. So far, only the boundary has been demarcated and stones have been kept for construction of the boundary.

The project requires thousands of crores of rupees, and it would be developed on PPP Model. Action would be taken on developing the project after obtaining the feasibility report. The department has taken up integrated township projects for the first time, Mr Suresh said.

Ms. Roopakala urged the minister expedite the project as early as possible, which would provide jobs to locals.

In reply to a question by G.T. Deve Gowda (JD-S) on use of Corporate Social Responsibility funds by companies located in Mysuru, Minister for Industries M. B. Patil said industries have been told to spend their CSR fund for developing local infrastructure and buildings of schools.

Only industries having turnover of more than ₹1,000 crore and 5% profit continuously for more than five years would set aside funds under the CSR.

Mr. Patil also said the department has been monitoring jobs provided to locals who had lost land for industrial projects in various districts.
