The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has clarified that no Affordable Housing Partnership (AHP) projects from Andhra Pradesh have been submitted so far under the revamped PMAY-U 2.0 scheme to avail of the Technology Innovation Grant (TIG) benefits.

In a written response to a question raised in the Lok Sabha by Vijayawada MP Kesineni Shivanath on Thursday, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu said under the AHP vertical of PMAY-U 2.0, only Maharashtra submitted proposals for eight projects involving 21,017 houses using alternative construction technologies. These projects were eligible for ₹90.64 crore in TIG assistance, but were still pending final compliance and fund release.

In contrast, Andhra Pradesh did not submit any AHP projects under PMAY-U 2.0 so far, despite availability of grants for adopting innovative and disaster-resilient construction technologies.

However, during the earlier phase of PMAY-U, the State had implemented 2.68 lakh houses under the AHP vertical using Monolithic Construction Technology, though TIG was not provisioned under the earlier guidelines, he said.

Mr. Sivanath sought detailed data on the number of AHP projects under Models 1 and 2, the use of TIG funds, alternative technologies adopted, their cost-effectiveness, and government efforts to promote GHTC-certified technologies in high-risk areas such as Nellore and other cyclone-prone districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.
