A high-level team from the National Investigation Agency on Monday (May 19, 2025) reportedly grilled two youngsters who were arrested by Vizianagaram Police on the charge of possession of explosive material allegedly to make bombs.
The team arrived on Monday morning and questioned Siraj-Ur-Rehaman and Syed Sameer who are in the custody of Vizianagaram Two Town Police Station. The duo possessed aluminium powder and sulphur powder.
Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal and other senior police officials interacted with NIA officials and provided inputs collected from various sources in the last two days. The senior officials evaded the media’s questions and declined to comment on NIAs investigation.
Sale of explosive materials on hold in Vizianagaram
According to sources, Vizianagaram had been a major destination for the sale of explosive materials. Many dealers who obtained permissions from the government sell them for quarry blasting and other purposes after verifying the veracity of buyers. Almost all shops stopped their sales in the backdrop of the arrest of two youngsters.
Among the arrested duo, Siraj is a native of Vizianagaram while Syed Sameer belonged to Hyderabad.
The local police officials have been in touch with their seniors in Vijayawada, Hyderabad, and New Delhi, as the Union Home Ministry is focussing on the issue.
