After being appointed the new Uttarandhra regional coordinator of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), senior leader Kurasala Kannababu arrived at the YSRCP office at Maddilapalem for the first time on Sunday (February 23). He was given a rousing reception by party leaders from various districts in Uttarandhra.
Addressing media persons, Mr. Kannababu thanked YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for the opportunity. He said he would strive to strengthen the party in the six districts of Uttarandhra. Underlining the region’s renown in political history and public agitations, he said it was an honour to work there. He also said that the YSRCP government, during its tenure, had tried to make Visakhapatnam the executive capital.
“I will visit all the districts, coordinate with the local leaders and cadre, identify issues and resolve them. I will also be available to the public and fight for their cause” he said.
Mr. Kannababu said that people have lost faith in the NDA government and that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has completely ignored the promises that he gave before the elections.
“Mr. Chandrababu Naidu has cheated all sections of people. No welfare scheme was implemented so far, except giving one cylinder in the name of Deepam. Besides the government has made huge debts, and no one knows where the money is going,” he said.
Mr. Kannababu said that as the Opposition party, the YSRCP now has greater responsibility to fight for public issues.
The former MLA also lashed out at the government for allegedly ignoring pleas from educated youth, which, according to him, led to protests by them at Isukathota in Visakhapatnam on February 22 night.
YSRCP Visakhapatnam district president Gudivada Amarnath, senior leaders T. Nagi Reddy, Karanam Dharmasri, MLC Varudu Kalyani and others were present.
