New Chairperson and Members of Telangana Human Rights Commission take charge; convene sitting to take up 300 old cases

Retired High Court judge, Justice Shameem Akther assumed the charge as the chairperson of Telangana Human Rights Commission assumed charge of the posts on Thursday (April 17, 2025). Orders appointed him to the post were issued by the State government on April 11. 

Along with him, Sivadi Praveena, retired Selection Grade District judge, was appointed as the member (Judicial) and retired IAS officer B. Kishore as the member (Non-Judicial). They too took charge on the occasion.

Immediately after assuming the office, they convened a bench sitting to take up 300 old cases relating to the alleged human rights violations, as per a press note.

Justice Shameem Akther said that the Commission would make every effort to achieve the objectives of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, by ensuring better protection and promotion of human rights in the State.
