Former Rajya Sabha MP and erstwhile all-India General Secretary of SFI, Nepaldeb Bhattacharya, died in Kolkata on Tuesday (May 13, 2025), a CPI(M) leader said.

Bhattacharya, also a labour leader and former member of CPI(M) State committee, died at a private hospital in south Kolkata, he said.

He was suffering from old-age-related health issues, the party leader said, adding that the 75-year-old CPI(M) leader is survived by his wife.

Bhattacharya was a Rajya Sabha member from 1981 to 1988, he said.
