A 19-year-old National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) aspirant ended her life on Thursday evening.
S. Sathya of Periya Muthampatti near Konganapuram here completed plus two in a private school in 2023, attended the NEET exam and secured 333 marks. To secure more marks, she joined a private NEET coaching centre at Jalakandapuram.
On March 31, she attempted to end her life and her parents admitted her to a private hospital in Edappadi. Later, she was admitted to another private hospital in Salem on Wednesday where she died on Thursday.
Based on the information, the Konganapuram police registered a case under Section 194 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Preliminary inquiries revealed that the deceased was afraid that she could not score more marks in the NEET exam and took this extreme step.
